Seems like most runner gift bags at races are filled with useless stuff and advertising; not the case with the gift bag handed out by the 2019 Falmouth Road Race. There were some advertising materials in the bag but at least they seemed more relevant than what I’ve seen in some gift bags at other races.

Official Falmouth Road Race Gifts
The best part of the gift bag is the official race gifts. These items will definitely get used and I’ll hang onto them for a long time.
New Balance Falmouth Road Race Tote Bag
The large white tote bag features the New Balance and Falmouth Road Race logos with a red lobster. Large enough for groceries or even a day trip getaway. The heavy stitching looks strong like it will survive many trips to the grocery store.
Race Mug

The signature race mug is white with a navy blue interior. The outside matches the tote bag with the race logo and lobster. The lobster is a new addition to the mug design this year, and I like it! Previous years would just have variations in the colors of the mug.
Race Program
The race program is an impressive glossy 92 page booklet. Some of the 2019 race specific details are also available online and you would need to know before picking it up at the Health & Fitness Expo.
Some key articles in the program include:
- Melissa Dock Surprise 2018 Finish
- Locking Back at 45 Years of Wheelchair Racing
- 2018 Race Recap
- Tribute to race founder Tommy Leonard
- 7 Not-To-Miss Spots Along the Course

Race Poster
The 2019 poster is a tribute to race founder Tommy Leonard by Karen Rinaldo. The story behind the poster is included in the race program.
No T-Shirt?
The one notable item missing from the gift bag is a race t-shirt that is common at most races. If you want a race shirt you’ll need to get to the Falmouth Road Race Health & Fitness early or buy one online. I have enough race shirts so I won’t really miss it and I bet I’ll get more use out of the coffee mug.
Product Samples

Seems like most samples from gift bags go straight in the trash, but not this time. I’m looking forward to trying a few of them.
Gatorade Endurance Formula Lemon-Lime
It’s been a long time since I’ve had any Gatorade products. They seem to be a staple at many races but I don’t want to try anything new on race day so I stick to water. I’ll give this a try on a future long run.
HOTSHOT
Claims to alleviate muscle cramps. Tried a sample at the Health & Fitness Expo and it definitely has some kick to it. Again, don’t want to try anything new on race day so I’ll give it a shot on a future training run.
KIND White Chocolate Cinnamon Almond Bar
I have been trying to eat
Kodiak Cakes Power Cakes Flap Jack & Waffle Mix
Pancakes are a post-race tradition so I’ll try the Kodiak Cakes Power Cakes Flap Jack & Waffle Mix the next time a race is closer to home.
Can’t Wait For 2020
Overall the Falmouth Road Race gift bag was really great gift bag with items I’ll use and look forward to trying. Can’t wait to see what they do for 2020 and beyond.
